The Japanese quartz movement inside your watch is a marvel of precision and reliability. It is designed to provide you with years of "set it and forget it" accuracy, requiring only one point of attention:

  • Battery Replacement: We recommend a professional battery replacement every 2-3 years. This is not just to maintain timekeeping; it is crucial to prevent the risk of battery leakage, which can cause irreparable damage to the delicate internal movement. Please visit an authorized service center for this.

  • Avoid Magnets: Keep your watch away from strong magnetic fields (such as those from smartphones, laptops, and speakers). These fields can temporarily interfere with the stepper motor inside the quartz movement, causing it to stop or run inaccurately. Simply moving it away will restore its function.

  • Understanding Patina: Your brass case will naturally oxidize over time when exposed to air and moisture. It will develop a patina—a unique darkening and change in tone. This is a natural, desirable, and celebrated process that makes your watch uniquely yours, a reflection of your personal journey.

  • If You Prefer a Shine: If you wish to restore the original luster, you can gently polish the case using a soft, dry micro-abrasive polishing cloth. Be very careful to polish only the brass case, avoiding the watch crystal and strap.

Caring for Stainless Steel

Our stainless steel is a mark of durability. It is corrosion-resistant and robust. To maintain its finish, simply wipe the case with a soft, dry microfiber cloth to remove fingerprints and dust.

The Care of Genuine Leather

A genuine leather strap is an organic, premium material that requires the most mindful care to preserve its life and texture.

  • Avoid Water at All Costs: Leather is porous and not water-resistant. Remove your watch before washing your hands (if possible), showering, or swimming.

  • Limit Exposure to Sweat: Heavy perspiration can stain and degrade the leather. Wipe the strap with a dry cloth after strenuous activity.

  • Beware of Chemicals: Avoid direct contact with perfumes, lotions, and solvents, as these can stain and dry out the leather.

  • Cleaning: To clean, wipe the strap gently with a soft, dry cloth. If it accidentally becomes damp, pat it with an absorbent cloth and allow it to air dry completely at room temperature. Never use a hairdryer or any external heat source, as this will crack the leather.

The Care of Stainless Steel Chains

Durable, stylish, and built to last, a steel chain is the easiest to maintain.

  • Routine Cleaning: Wipe the bracelet with a soft, dry cloth to remove daily oils and dust.

  • Deeper Cleaning: If your watch is rated 3ATM, do not submerge it. The bracelet can be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth. If your watch has a higher rating (5ATM or more), you can use a soft-bristle brush with lukewarm water and mild soap to gently scrub the links. Rinse and dry it thoroughly with a soft cloth immediately.

A Precise Guide to Water Resistance

Understanding your watch's water resistance is crucial to prevent damage. Most Canon Quartz watches feature a 3ATM rating.

  • 5ATM (or "Water Resistant"): This rating signifies that your watch is splash-resistant.

  • It IS Safe For: Accidental splashes, rain, and hand washing.

  • It IS NOT Safe For: Showering, bathing, swimming, snorkelling, or diving. The sustained pressure from a showerhead or submersion in a pool will exceed the seal's limits and cause water to enter the case.

The Guiding Principles of Watch Care

  1. Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Do not leave your watch in extremely hot environments (like a car dashboard or a sauna) or extremely cold ones. Heat can shorten battery life and damage components, while cold can affect timekeeping.

  2. Avoid Chemical Contact: Beyond the strap, chemicals from perfumes, colognes, or cleaning solvents can discolor your watch case and compromise the integrity of its seals. Put your watch on after you have applied any lotions or fragrances.

  3. Avoid Shocks and Impacts: While built to last, a watch is a precise instrument. Avoid dropping it or striking it against hard surfaces, as this can damage the crystal, case, and internal movement.

Long-Term Storage

If you do not plan to wear your watch for an extended period, store it in a cool, dry, and dark place. A watch box or a soft pouch is ideal to protect it from dust and scratches.
